Cabinetry… just one of our
many Specialties
The simple beauty of wood is enjoyed and value appreciated by everyone.
Often times it is enough to clean, lightly sand, and clear coat,
to give existing cabinets and woodwork an entirely different look.
We believe Your woodwork and cabinets are furniture. Like all good
furniture, it is possible to take light finishes and make them dark
or lighter. It is also possible to take dark finishes and make them
darker or lighter. The processes and products used are safer and
easier. Often times it is less expensive to refinish than to replace
doors and resurface. We encourage you to compare!
Look at the part of the cabinet that usually is not seen. Cabinets
that are well made will last and last. So, why would you want
a finish that will not live up to the life of your woodwork?
For that reason, our finishes are designed to last and last.
Here are some of the many processes used in our woodwork finishing:
Hand sanding to eliminate scratches.
Wood is inspected to determine need of a sap conditioner. Color
depth may require non-grain raising dye.
Hand applied, brushed, or sprayed stain is determined by the
base wood used; to achieve color consistency.
Surfaces are allowed to air dry slowly and naturally.
Catalyzed sealer can be applied to ensure moisture protection
Sanding cloth or paper buffs dried surface.
Second coat of catalyzed sealer can be applied to protect end
grain of door panels, or all over, for more moisture protection
A warm controlled ambient temperature allows finish to harden,
without baking the finish; which could dry and damage the wood.
If glaze is used an additional coat of catalyzed sealer can
be used to protect the glaze.
Surface is wiped with a resin tack cloth to prepare for
topcoat
Sealers used are designed to bond with topcoat of lacquer
or
conversion varnish.
Temperature controlled drying gives a hard, bake type,
finish prior to final polish.
